Unadorned white walls (the bed is white too) create a neutral background for conception of the room. They make the space seem bigger and allow other features to come to the forefront, such as the map, the bedside tables and the four distinctive lights which stand in for a chandelier. They are focused on the ceiling map.

A stylised map of Liberec on the ceiling makes designer room number 318 original. It on the one hand links the living space with the bathroom and on the other, presents the city of Liberec in a simple graphic form.

The location of the hotel is indicated in red and you can make out the streets, squares and buildings. How much the guests study the map all depends on how curious they are.

While designing the room, the architect Tomáš Holub took has starting point from his own ideas about the ideal hotel room. He wanted it to be pleasant, practical and unobtrusively imaginative. A room, which is able to acquaint the guest with their new surroundings in a leisurely manner, to arouse interest and allow the guest to think. Can the room be classified as one of the patriotic ones? “This is a trivial and thus also comprehensible association of the room with the city of Liberec. Thanks to the map, the room endorses its city and presents it the way it is,” explains the architect.
