The Jizera Mountains with their famous “50 K” cross-country skiing race have been composed into this room by David Vávra. The Jizera room is supposed to evoke the feeling of a wooden house. The whole room is clad in wood and all of the furniture is also made of wood, evoking the theme of wooden cottages.
Worth your attention are the original curtains which are printed with drawings by the architect Vávra himself. The observant guest will recognise a few famous buildings and locations in the Jizera Mountains on them.
The television on the wall is covered by a picture with a motif of the glassworks in the mountain settlement of Jizerka.
David Vávra draws attention to a small dismantlable frame in which numbers taken from the Jizera 50 race will change, i.e. his race numbers and times. “I first took part in 1978, then I missed a few years, but I now compete every year. So, I now have some experience with the Jizera Mountains. It will be a challenge for guests to try to beat me. And when I stop competing, I will go back through history, because I have kept all of my race numbers,” he says. He would be interested to see whether guests staying in the Jizera Room are inspired to visit the mountains and to actively participate in the race.
