What impact would nature, vandalism or the ravages of time have on the room?

"THE IDEA BEHIND THE ROOM COMES FROM IDEAS ABOUT WHAT THE ROOM/HOTEL WOULD LOOK LIKE IF RENOVATION WORK HAD NOT STARTED.”

The designers used items which they found, refashioned and give a new lease of life to for the furnishings in the room.

The natural chaos is a cross-section of several eras – in the Analepsis room, which takes its name from the cinematic or literary device in which the time line of the story is interrupted and the story returns to an earlier moment in time.

A secret entrance leads to the bathroom. The bath in the room is the only bath in the hotel which does not have a jets. Every item in the bathroom is an original piece, its own master. The washbasin is blue, the toilet green (and also stands on a dais). A practical reason – the incline of the waste pipe – has uplifted the green throne and thus underlined its function.

In order to underline their ideas, the designers allowed “trees to grow through” the room, which creates the impression that it has been completely ravaged by the onslaught of time. “We wanted to use features which still work well and which convey the character of times gone by. They can be combined with contemporary features or those which are completely diametrically opposed. Our procedure was also that in which somebody came into the room and left something there, after which somebody else came in and “slapped” something of their own over the top. The same as used to happen before 1989.”
